Improvised Music

Zausach

Dirk Marwedel - extended saxophone

Joshua Weitzel - guitar, shamisen

Leon Senger - drums

Joshua Weitzel, Leon Senger and Dirk Marwedel are not only musicians, but are all also active in the field of visual arts and (sound) installations – not entirely unreasonable, therefore, when their interwoven sounds also evoke visual-sculptural associations.

As a trio, they passionately work their way through the diverse undergrowth of resonant textures and ramifications that they themselves have just created and condensed, thinning it out until it is fallow, only to then let it grow wildly and twist again.

In Between Skins

Juan Bermudez - electronics

Leon Senger - drums and cymbals

In this duo, the two musicians and sound artists explore the complex sound spectra of drums and cymbals. Using special microphones and self-developed software synthesizers, the instruments' sound spectra are examined closely, thus becoming the source material for their performance.

Resonant Drum

Leon Senger - drums, electronics

Resonant Drum uses feedback to bring the resonance frequencies of drums to life. The unusual use of the microphone as part of the instrument, preparations on the drum, and digital sound processing, among other things, create various subtle textures within the static tones.

Garden Hermits (Collaboration)

Rocco Romano - electric guitar

Leon Senger - drums, electronics

Garden Hermits is a project by guitarist and composer Rocco Romano in collaboration with Anna Balthasar and Michelle Bocker, two new media artists from Cologne. Music encounters the breathtaking world of microorganisms, captured live on stage using microscopes. In  their performance at art.ist Wiesbaden, Leon Senger joined    them for  a duo of improvised music.

qpiavis

Kim Kamilla Jäger - cello

Mikula Schulz - piano
